Le marabout douchynois is the fruit of “family album” meetings between Céline Duval and inhabitants of the town of Douchy-les-Mines during a residency in April 2008. Ten residents took part in the project by showing the artist their amateur photographs and family albums. The book is made up of a selection of images chosen by the artist. They show life in Douchy-les-Mines but also the travels of its inhabitants. A few historical images evoke the liberation of the Nord – Pas-de-Calais region at the end of the Second World War. Le marabout douchynois is an image-story that assumes a narrative form.
